I haven't really figured out much of that part yet but it seems like the resolution of the files is just way off and even with 128 steps on the sequencer it can't play a short MIDI sequence from a. I tried exporting midi to it because i was thinking it must be way better to just do midi stuff on my PC, then send it to the BlackBox. If you go from e.g Squarp Pyramid to this then hahaha, it's a frigging toy, it has perhaps 3% of it's capability, max! But yes, it's a jack of all trades indeed. And i do like that its so portable, i can sit in nature or wherever with it (using a powerbank, it lasts for 10h easily). I invested a month at least on making instruments for it (i love doing patches) so i'm gonna keep it, it will never be "worth" selling for me. I had high hopes for this to serve as my live looper and playback device, but there's always some workflow challenge or omitted feature that drives me nuts. For me, I don't use any of the sequencing features. I wish they would rewrite the firmware to focus the box. A jack of all trades and annoying as f*ck with all of them. I can't put my finger on it but it feels like this thing is trying to do too much.
Sure, they might not need transpose (doubtful though) or maybe they don't even care it cant do glide/portamento (and thus not replicate a monosynth and many "real" instruments), but i think it's stuff that should have been mentioned. I must say that i've also lost a lot of respect for a few ""reviewers"" of this unit.
Also have fun using it live with no simple way to transpose.
Nope, you will have to build up an entire song, do the specific transpose parts for all instruments, hours of work vs a second. It would save people so much time to be able to press a key to transpose to that key, let's say you tie all instruments apart from the percussion to MIDI ch1, you press D2 and it transposes.
i don't think i've EVER played with any, even super simplistic and cheap, gear that can't be transposed over MIDI. I was sure this was something that it was capable of since it seems like such a obvious thing. Why the hell can't you transpose over MIDI? what the actual F*ck? But it's such a missed opportunity, and so often where they don't seem to give a f*ck. The more i use it the less i like it, i mean i love some parts of it.
